We have a new feature for adding test results of dogs on the permanent papers. It is a great thing for the dogs but we have had to set some ground rules. These rules are the guidelines that everyone should already be following, so they are not a hardship.
OFA (Hips and elbows)—we need a copy of the actual OFA certificate you got from OFA when your x-rays were sent in, not the application. Anyone could fill out the application, but only the ones actually sent in are considered OFA certified. The OFA vets are trained in this field and their word stands. For Preliminary Hip x-ray, the letter stating they are prelim and the rating is what we would require. Same thing for Penn-hip, we need a copy of the certificate you receive from them. For patellas, the same rule applies, OFA certification required to add to papers even though an x-ray is not sent in. Remember, all these results appear on the OFA website and people can check the authenticity of your statements. Just having your local vet make a statement, no matter how good he/she is, does not demonstrate OFA certification.
Eye Cerf—it is recommended that eyes be cerfed at least every 15 months to be current. We will not require you to send the new ones in to keep the cerf status on your papers, but the first time we add them to the papers the results must be no older than 15 months to be added.
Other testing (Pra/Prcd, HC, MDR1)—again we need a copy of the actual certificate you receive from the testing company.
DNA verification—is strictly for parentage verification should the need arise, it is not a test for a disease. It should be noted that you have verified your kennel on your website, any advertisements you have and our breeder page if you have a listing; rather than on the dog’s papers.
We will not send out new papers unless you enclose a $10 fee per paper. It will not show up on offspring’s papers as there is not enough room. You will still need to provide your new owners copies of the results, or a copy of the parent's papers for proof.
Most everyone also has a microchip number to go with the dog’s testing, so this is the time to have this added to the permanent papers as well.
Certificate copies must be sent by regular mail and not fax or email, we will be doing these as we have time. Payment should accompany them if you want new papers mailed out. If testing is for a newly registered dog, please send that registration by mail along with testing certificates so that we can do it all at once.
Remember, please be patient as we do have dogs and litters to register, and they are our priority. We are doing this as a courtesy to our breeders.
Exciting news!!! You can now register your own dog online!!!
We of course will be approving them and printing the actual papers to mail to you, but this should speed things up tremendously. The procedure takes minutes to complete.
New owners can go to the register a dog section to proceed, an account will be created when you begin the process. Our testers have found things to be very smooth, as all the information you need to register your dog is available on the registration application you receive from the breeder of your puppy. Payment is with paypal, credit card or you can choose the option to send a check or money order. You will also be given the option of uploading a picture of your dog directly into our database. Once the dog is registered in the system an email will be sent to the breeder asking if this puppy was indeed sold with breeding rights at which time the breeder will respond back and we will print and mail the papers to the new owner.
Breeders--you have the option to register each puppy in your litter and get the bonus of a rebate on your litter application when the litter is entirely registered. You have the option of adding the new owners information without them having an account, we will follow through with creating their account when we print the papers for the dogs. This rebate only works when the entire litter is registered by the breeder. Hopefully lots of breeders will take advantage of the chance to get their litter rebate, and at the same time have more control over their puppies registrations. This has been done for quite awhile in Europe, they simply add the $20 registration fee to the price of the puppy, and register each one themselves at the time of sale.
We hope all of you will enjoy this new option. We continue to try to make the registration process, whether litter or dog, a painless process for all involved. We are growing every day and we thank all of our breeders and owners!!

Welcome to American Stock Dog Registry!
The American Stock Dog Registry was created to provide an alternative registry program for all sizes of Australian Shepherds. Our mission is to preserve the old established pedigrees that are so important in the establishment of the Miniature and Toy Australian Shepherds. We are dedicated to the breed standard.
It soon became evident that there was also a need for an alternative registry for other working stock dogs such as Border Collies and Australian Cattle Dogs. After many requests, we have decided also to add those two breeds to our registry as well.
Our goals for the American Stock Dog Registry are simple: We want to provide a registry for the three size varieties of Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, and Australian Cattle Dogs using pedigrees from acknowledged breeding programs. We intend to do this with the best possible customer care we can offer.
Please take a tour through our web-site and see what we have to offer. . Please feel free to e-mail or call if you have any questions.
